A Message from the Chair
I am truly excited for our family to come together once again for some much needed fun, fellowship, and celebration. I often think back to 2020, when we first began planning a family reunion, only to have COVID bring everything to a sudden halt. Since that time, we have lost so many beloved family members, and it seemed the only occasions bringing us together were times of sorrow.
One day, I sat and reflected on how much our family needed something joyful to look forward to, something that would reunite us in love, laughter, and happy memories. That’s when I called my daughter, Mercedes, and said, “It’s time for a family reunion.” She replied, “Dad, are you serious?” She shared that she and Lindsay had recently been talking about the very same idea, but they weren’t sure how to make it happen.
After praying on it, I felt confirmation from the Lord that this was the right time. I told Mercedes that I would help lead the effort, but that this would be my last reunion in that role because I believe it is time for the next generation to step forward and carry the vision forward.
With that in mind, I brought together both younger and older family members to begin planning. From that moment on, the 2027 King Family Reunion began to take shape, and I truly believe it will be a blessing for our entire family.

A Message from our Sr. Advisor
I’m excited about our upcoming family reunion because, after all these years since our last gathering in 2015, it feels like a homecoming my spirit has been waiting for. At 61, I understand more deeply how precious it is for us, Black families with rich histories, triumphs, and unshakable resilience, to come together and honor the legacy our ancestors built. In a time when parts of our government are attempting to erase or rewrite Black history, our reunion becomes more than a celebration; it becomes an act of preservation, pride, and truth‑telling. We’ve lost so many loved ones over the years, and their absence is felt every day. Coming together allows us to remember them, speak their names, and carry forward the stories, accomplishments, and love they left behind. This reunion is a reminder that we are Black Excellence; still here, still thriving, and still committed to protecting the legacy of our people.
